Throughout this site you will find a multitude of different patterns and weaves in many different metals. We are creative creatures and enjoy the process of making new designs and welcome your requests and custom orders.
We work in Copper, Sterling Silver, and Jeweler's brass, so we have supplies on hand for most custom orders in those metals. Many different beads are available and bead pricing varies. We will also work in 14k gold filled wire or 14k solid gold wire, but lead times will be a little longer for gold projects as we'll have to order wire and make the rings. All custom orders require a deposit of at least 50% of the total cost before we start on a project and the balance needs to be paid before the item is shipped. We will take on just about any chainmail jewelry project (bracelets, necklaces, anklets, waist chains, belts, headdresses, and maybe even bikinis), but we do not make any armor.
Over the years we have created a great number of custom jewelry pieces. Some of these
customizations may be as simple as changing the metals or beads of an existing design, or as
complicated as creating an entirely new piece that has never been thought of. We love the
challenge and opportunity presented by each custom piece. Every piece of custom jewelry is
special both to the owner and to us. This page features some of our favorite and most special
custom pieces of jewelry.
Thunder Shiken (Thunder Wheel) (2008)
In 2008 after seeing the device I had created for the sylversail armada, several members of
Thunder challenged me to make their device, the shiken (or thunder wheel), which is a circle
of lightingbolts with eight points inside and outside, out of chainmail. I accepted the challenge,
and in November of 2008 I created my prototype shiken out of copper for display at Southern Crusades
(SCA) in Arizona. The members of house thunder were very pleased with my results and have commissioned
a very special version for the Dread Lord and Dread Lady, heads of Dreaded Thunder in Arizona. I will
have several Shikens available for sale at Estrella War, and will also be taking orders for custom
commissions. (only available to members of house thunder)
Sylverstone's Hatband (2007)
This piece is a brilliant expansion of one of our original bracelet designs. In 2007 Sylverstone
the Pirate of An Tir (SCA) saw one of our Elenore bracelets in Sterling Silver and Swarovski crystal
and found the inspiration for a spectacular one of a kind hatband. After much planning and discussion
this unique piece was commisioned and created in late 2007 as well as the fleet device, also depicted
on the hat and below. (click picture for additional images)
Sylversail Armada Fleet Device (2007-08)
During our discusions about Sylverstone's hatband he also brought up the need for a unique device to
differentiate the memebers of his fleet. The deviced needed to be piratey and sparkly; since they
are a blingy bunch of pirates, but also needed to be readily identifiable, and have a way to
differentiate ranks. Additionally the device need to be designed such that it could be mounted
easily on a pirate hat. So, I designed the fleet device, as a graduated byzantine ships wheel. Each
one is beaded with swarovski crystal to show rank and add sparkle, and they are available in all our
metals and combinations. (only available to members of the sylversail armada)
Chad is skilled in over 40 different chainmail weaves and is currently studying several more. We will be adding a section of chainmail weaves that we use to give you ideas for your unique creations as soon as we get them photographed.
